Too bad! We won’t even get to see Lil Rounds perform next week!! That is a long wait. I am not sure I like these format changes for American Idol Season 8. We have to wait 3 weeks between Lil Rounds performances.
I am sure the last 2 nights really let us know how tough it will be to make it into the Top 12 on this years American Idol. There were definitely some good singers who didn’t get through to the Top 12, but that is what you get when only 1 guy, 1 girl and the next highest vote getter get through.
Danny Gokey, Alexis Grace and Michael Sarver made it through last night. We don’t know if Gokey or Sarver were the top male vote getter, we can assume it was Danny (he has done really well in this competition, but it doesn’t really matter.
Danny Gokey, Alexis Grace and Michael Sarver are in the TOP 12
I can say it was nice to see that the annoying Tatiana Del Toro didn’t get through. That girl in incredibly annoying! I just hope that American Idol isn’t cutting out any opportunities for some of the talented singers who don’t get through on their Group day. Of course they may get a second chance in the Wildcard round, but still.
So, we now know that we need to vote for Lil Rounds when her chance to sing comes around. Don’t leave up to other people, if you want her through then VOTE.
Tomorrow night we get to see Group 1 perform on American Idol. The top 36 for Season 8 have been broken down into groups of 12. Tuesday the 17th (Group 1 will perform) and Wednesday the 18th we will get the results from Group 1).
Next week Group 2 will perform and the week after Group 3 will perform.
Lil Rounds is not in Group 1 so we won’t get to see her perform this week, and American Idol still hasn’t announced who will be in Group 2 next week. We may have to wait awhile to see Lil Rounds perform again.
Group 1 Guys:
Stephen Fowler, Ricky Braddy, Brent Keith Smith, Michael Sarver, Danny Gokey, Anoop Desai
Group 1 Girls:
Casey Carlson, Jackie Tohn, Anne Marie Boskovich, Alexis Grace, Stevie Wright, Tatiana Del Toro
Joanna Pacitti has been disqualified from competing in American Idol Season 8. She has been replaced with Felicia Barton. The FOX station announced, “that Joanna Pacitti is ineligible to continue in the competition”. Joanna Pacitti has been replaced with Felicia Barton.
I don’t really see the point. She didn’t seem to be ‘a professional’ as the FOX network determined. Joanna Pacitti forgot her lyrics twice. Some professional! She certainly wasn’t Lil Rounds quality.
Here is the list of the Top 36 contestants who will be on American Idol this Season 8. Contestants who participated in a ’sing-off’ have the contestant they competed against named as well.

35. Matt Breitzke (He had a singoff against Michael Sarver, but the judges kept them both)
36. Micheal Sarver (He had a singoff against Matt Breitzke, but the judges kept them both)
Does American Idol think it’s viewers are stupid. If Matt Breitzke and Michael Sarver had a singoff and in a ‘dramatic turn of events’ and then they kept both contestants. Shouldn’t there be 37 contestants?? The singoffs were for people they weren’t sure of. This means that they either quietly kicked someone off the show that they were sure of, OR (and this sounds more likely) they picked two of the better guys in the competition put them in a ‘dramatic’ singoff to get our emotions going, and then kept them both. American Idol wake up! This is a singing competition!
Lil Rounds made it through to the Top 36 on American Idol this year. Not much of a surprise. Before Lil found out she was through she did an interview where she said, “I believe that with this show I can turn my life around. I feel like this can take us out of a difficult and stressful situation, and put us in a place where we’ll be OK. I think I did good enough”.
Lil Rounds Makes it Through!
What and odd American Idol show last night. All we saw were results about who got in to Season 8’s Top 36 and who didn’t. I didn’t really enjoy the show. The contestants where brought to what was called the ‘judges mansion’ where they were brought into a room and they had to sit in front of Simon, Randy, Paula and Kara and then they were told whether or not they would be on the show this year. Contestants who were very secure were put through immediately while other contestants were told they had to ’sing for their lives’ against another contestant, and that only one of them was going to get through. So we had sing-offs on American Idol, Mmmm!
Lil Rounds is in the Top 36
There were certainly some disappointments (Jamar Rogers for one), but Lil Rounds is through and that is great to hear. Not much of a surprise though.
Unfortunately we won’t get to see Lil Rounds perform next show. Over the next three weeks the remaining 36 will be broken into groups of 12, and we will only get to see 12 people perform each week.
Lil Rounds leaving the judges with a big smile
Next weeks performers include: Casey Carlson, Stephen Fowler, Jackie Tohn, Ricky Braddy, Anne Marie Boskovich, Brent Keith, Alexis Grace, Michael Sarver, Stevie Wright, Danny Gokey, Tatiana Del Toro, Anoop Desai.
So, it is finally our turn to vote. So lets give Lil Rounds all the support she needs. Good luck Lil.
Well we only saw Lil for a few seconds, but even that was enough to hear that she must have delivered a really powerful version of Jennifer Lopez’ “Baby I Love You”. Lil really sounds almost like a throwback to the soul sound of an Aretha Franklin and I mean that in the best possible way. This girl can sing! We’re sure that simple talent will carry her into the final 36. The only question mark is whether the judges and voters are so “pop” oriented that they don’t appreciate just how good she is.
Lil Rounds Singing Jennifer Lopez (second half of video)
Lil Rounds had a short interview before we saw a short clip of her singing. In the interview she said, “I’m not going to be defeated and my family is not going to be defeated. It’s going to be good for us”. I would say that is an understatement. Things are going to be very good for Lil Rounds and her family.
Lil Rounds Singing in Hollywood (Round 3)
They showed another short clip of Lil’s family and you just know that she is determined to make a better life for them. And the truth is that Lil is good enough that even if American Idol doesn’t embrace her, you have to believe there could be a career out there for her kind of voice.
Nothing is official yet, but you can count on it. You don’t need the rumours to know she is going to get through to the top 36. The American Idol judges love her, and they decide everything right now. It will soon be up to us to vote for her, and keep her up on a stage where she belongs.
Here is a preview from the next show. We know we will get to see her perform again.
Group Day
Well we weren’t lucky enough to see Lil Rounds on American Idol group day. We obviously know she got through not just because she is so good, but also because we saw her whole group celebrating that they got through. (You can see Michael Castro was in her group. Jason Castro’s from Season 7 brother).
Lil Rounds Celebrates With Her Group!! (Wish we got to see it)
Not much of a surprise we didn’t get to see her. As we all know by now American Idol uses Group Day to show just how pathetic some people are when they are under pressure and they have to work together. So I am glad we didn’t see Lil. She seems way to level headed to be involved in any trash like that.
Lil Rounds was the very first singer on the show. Lil Rounds picked up a standing ‘o’ from Kara and Paula after she sang Whitney Houston - I Will Always Love You!! She was awesome! Does she ever have guts to walk into the first day of Hollywood and take on a hard Whitney Houston song. I guess if you have the voice to do that.
Kara and Paula give a Standing ‘o’ (good job Lil!)
Kara Dioguardi went on to say, “you know what I liked you the moment I saw you. I thought you were bold and brave then, and you’re still bold and brave, and that’s what makes for a great artist.” We only got to hear from Kara, but it is obvious she really impressed them.
Rumour has it that Lil and only one other contestant from American Idol pick up a standing ovation from any of the judges in Round 1. Lil is going to do awesome in this competition. I can’t wait for more. Hopefully, she doesn’t end up in some messed up group on group day!
