After the dramatic twist in the Wildcard Round we now have a Top 13 and not a Top 12. I am pretty pleased with that. The more we get to see the better. Season 8 is full of talented young singers, and it could be the best year ever.
Here are the Top 13 on American Idol:
01. Jasmine Murray
02. Lil Rounds
03. Scott Macintyre
04. Jorge Nunez
05. Danny Gokey
06. Alexis Grace
07. Michael Sarver
08. Kris Allen
09. Adam Lambert
10. Allison Iraheta
11. Matt Giraud
12. Anoop Desai
13. Megan Corkrey
The Wildcard show last night was about as dramatic as American Idol could make it. Anyone who missed it sure missed their fill of shocks and surprises. There was judge fights, Tatiana’s insanity, and the biggest surprise ending ever on American Idol (the Top 12 has been changed to a Top 13).
Last night 8 people sang for the final 3 positions on this years American Idol. Von Smith, Jasmine Murray, Ricky Braddy, Megan Corkrey, Tatiana Del Toro, Matt Giraud, Jesse Langseth and Anoop Desai all sang their hearts hoping to pick up one of the final 3 spots in the Top 12. There were a lot of solid performances last night.
Lets start with the notorious drama queen Tatiana Del Toro. After she sang she was talking with the judges with a newly acquired Spanish accent. Odd! We all know that Tatiana suffers from some sort of insanity. Paula Abdul pointed it out. Paula interupted Tatiana while she was talking and said, ‘you seemed to have developed a accent I haven’t heard before’. Tatiana’s explanation for this was that when she is emotional and stressed she thinks in Spanish so she ends up with an accent?? She actually said that. The best part of all is that her accent became stronger after Paula pointed it out. It got so bad she sounded like she was acting in some very poorly funded ‘B’ movie. Odd girl. It is nice to know that we won’t be seeing her she did not advance out of the Wildcard Round.
Paula seemed a little more disturbed by Simon Cowell than normal. At one point she appeared to be getting a little physical with Simon. She was trying to twist is arm while Simon was talking.
Now for the biggest surprise of the show. After Jasmine Murray and Megan Corkrey were told that they were through. Anoop Desai and Matt Giraud were brought up in front of the judges for the final spot in the Top 12 (all the other contestants had already been told ‘no’). Matt Giraud was told that he made the Top 12. Right after that Anoop congratulated Matt and started to walk off stage. Simon stopped him and said that he just wanted to tell him something on behalf of all the judges. Simon told him that American Idol decided to do a Top 13 and that he was through as well.
What a crazy show, but now it is time to get down to business. It is time for Lil Rounds to battle it out with the other contestants. Should be a great season.
I don’t think anyone was overly surprised to find out that Lil Rounds was voted through last night, but it sure was nice to find out that we will be seeing much more of her on American Idol. I liked the way American Idol told us that lil-rounds made it through. Instead of making her stand up with two, three, four other contestants. All they did was make Lil rounds stand up and Ryan Seacrest told her congratulations you have made it through. I don’t think that any contestant who stood up next to Lil and was told that one of them was through and one of them wasn’t would believe that they were through.
Lil Rounds waits to find out if she is in the TOP 12
I think that Lil was also pretty confident that she had done enough to make it through to the top 12. She didn’t seem too nervous and she sure did enough to deserve it. Other contestants from group three who were voted through were Scott Macintyre and Jorge Nunez.
Lil is pretty pumped that she is through
So we now know 9 of the 12 contestants who will be competing in the top 12 on American idol this year. They are: Lil Rounds, Scott Macintyre, Jorge Nunez, Danny Gokey, Alexis Grace, Michael Sarver, Kris Allen, Adam Lambert and Allison Iraheta.

Towards the end of the show they announced which contestants will compete in the Wildcard round for the final three positions in the top 12. They are:
Von Smith
Jasmine Murray
Ricky Braddy
Megan Corkrey
Tatiana Del Toro
Matt Giraud
Jesse Langseth
Anoop Desai
Lil Rounds was awesome last night! Group three performed last night to fight it out for three more positions into top 12 in this year’s American idol. Lil Rounds sang “Mary J Blige - Be Without You”, and once again Lil Rounds blew us away with her incredible vocals. She is so good! Simon Cowell actually told her that he didn’t entirely agree with the song choice because she sounded too much like the original artist. I don’t think sounding too much like Mary J Blige could ever be considered a bad thing. I would actually take it as a complement.
Listen to this:
Lil was the final performer of the night and they sure did save the best for last. I would be absolutely shocked if she was not voted through to top 12 tomorrow night. Lil was by far the best female performer on the night. She received praise from all four judges. The judges were obviously very impressed with her performance, as was everybody watching. It was kind of funny that towards the end of the song Lil changed the words from “call the radio if you just can’t be without your baby” to “call this show if you just can’t be without me baby”.
What the judges said!
“Lil I’m going to keep this very brief, brilliant! My favour performance! I would not have chosen the song by the way, because you sound too much like the original and I think it’s very important that you show what you sound like. But, I think that you have great, great prospects in this competition and I think you are undoubtedly one of the best singers we have found so far this year. I like you.”
“Jo, I Gotta agree with Cowell. I think you are one of the best we have found this season hands down. You know what I love about you, what you did tonight is like you know we’ve been making this reference like Keyshia Cole, Mary J Blige and all this kind of stuff, because you’re definitely R&B flavor, but you kept your swagger on, you didn’t lose your swagger you’re like yeah! That’s what I’m saying you’ve got unbelievable vocals. You definitely know who you are. Love big baby! Love it!”
“Lil you were a powerhouse the first day we met you and your still a powerhouse. Let me tell you a girl you are great and let’s actually good about you is you’ve been Lil from the moment we met you and Lil now. You’ve been a steady, steady bulk going the same way and you know I can’t wait to see what you’re going to do next week and the week after that. Good job.”
“You are first class. First class my dear and you know why it, I this making suspicion that we’re going to see you for many more “Lil Rounds”.”
Lil Rounds sings Mary J Blige
I don’t want to be overly confident that Lil make it through, but it really would be unbelievable if Lil was not voted through to the top 12 tomorrow night. I believe that Lil rounds has shown herself to be the best female performer in this year’s American idol.

Tomorrow night we will find out the results of the vote and we will also find out which contestants will compete in the Wildcard round. Eight contestants will be chosen from the contestants who have not been voted through to the top 12. These eight contestants will compete on Thursday night for the final three positions in season eighths American idol.
Too bad! We won’t even get to see Lil Rounds perform next week!! That is a long wait. I am not sure I like these format changes for American Idol Season 8. We have to wait 3 weeks between Lil Rounds performances.
I am sure the last 2 nights really let us know how tough it will be to make it into the Top 12 on this years American Idol. There were definitely some good singers who didn’t get through to the Top 12, but that is what you get when only 1 guy, 1 girl and the next highest vote getter get through.
Danny Gokey, Alexis Grace and Michael Sarver made it through last night. We don’t know if Gokey or Sarver were the top male vote getter, we can assume it was Danny (he has done really well in this competition, but it doesn’t really matter.
Danny Gokey, Alexis Grace and Michael Sarver are in the TOP 12
I can say it was nice to see that the annoying Tatiana Del Toro didn’t get through. That girl in incredibly annoying! I just hope that American Idol isn’t cutting out any opportunities for some of the talented singers who don’t get through on their Group day. Of course they may get a second chance in the Wildcard round, but still.
So, we now know that we need to vote for Lil Rounds when her chance to sing comes around. Don’t leave up to other people, if you want her through then VOTE.
Tomorrow night we get to see Group 1 perform on American Idol. The top 36 for Season 8 have been broken down into groups of 12. Tuesday the 17th (Group 1 will perform) and Wednesday the 18th we will get the results from Group 1).
Next week Group 2 will perform and the week after Group 3 will perform.
Lil Rounds is not in Group 1 so we won’t get to see her perform this week, and American Idol still hasn’t announced who will be in Group 2 next week. We may have to wait awhile to see Lil Rounds perform again.
Group 1 Guys:
Stephen Fowler, Ricky Braddy, Brent Keith Smith, Michael Sarver, Danny Gokey, Anoop Desai
Group 1 Girls:
Casey Carlson, Jackie Tohn, Anne Marie Boskovich, Alexis Grace, Stevie Wright, Tatiana Del Toro
Joanna Pacitti has been disqualified from competing in American Idol Season 8. She has been replaced with Felicia Barton. The FOX station announced, “that Joanna Pacitti is ineligible to continue in the competition”. Joanna Pacitti has been replaced with Felicia Barton.
I don’t really see the point. She didn’t seem to be ‘a professional’ as the FOX network determined. Joanna Pacitti forgot her lyrics twice. Some professional! She certainly wasn’t Lil Rounds quality.
